A Rose!

From nothing…

Green thumb, or sh*t luck?

This rose bush stump has traveled the “country side”. (Not really. Just my yard.) Anyhow, it has never done real well in previous locations.

I made one final move this spring to give it one more chance. After weeks of no apparent life I was on the verge of pulling it and starting over. As I went to pull it and send it off to the dead weed pile I noticed a tiny green sprout at the base. Not sure if it was just a weed or new life, I gave the stump a reprieve.

Good choice. With gardening, never say never.

After a couple more weeks, it became obvious this was really new growth.

And here we are today.

Alive and looking about as healthy as it ever has!

And four more buds about to open.

Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me. I have mums, day lilies, and marigolds that just keep coming back no matter that they get beat up pretty bad with heat, drought, feet of snow dumped on them and frozen with below zero temperatures.
