Looking Out The Window

My eyes will not be deceived

Looking out the window
This day is about to begin
The sunrise is glimmering on the horizon
An orange glow reflects on the shimmering water

I have seen this before
It is what I know to be true
There for all to see
The obviousness can’t be ignored

Then today, like many other days
I find it full of contradictions, truth obscured
Events that happened, didn’t
Events that didn’t happen, did

Read on, they tell you
This is all that’s true
Don’t let your eyes deceive you
This is your trusted source

Insistence that the sun is not rising today
That glimmer on the horizon is an illusion
The water does not shimmer
There is no orange, let alone a glow

They insist your eyes are deceiving you
Listen to us, we tell the truth
Our anonymous sources are impeccable
Trust us…

Breathtaking depths of deception
So many blinded by false trust
They were impeccable sources after all
Truth commandeered, an attempted hijacking of what’s real

The obvious then becomes undeniable
Reality is impossible to suppress
Truth itself is glimmering on the horizon
Shimmering on the water for all to see

Make no mistake, it is no longer their truth
The sun did rise today
What has known to be true, is true
My eyes will not be deceived
