While the world sleeps
The house creaks

Where was that?
Quiet once again
Then the house creaks, again
No warning
No notice
Some hard to notice
Quiet once again
Is someone there?
What was that?
A shadow passes by
In the corner of my eye
Who was that?
Was that a creak?
Scent of sage drifting by
The light in the corner briefly flickers
Oh, and the thump
Then a bump
Quiet once again
Then the house creaks…again
