Through The Forest

The heavens were now theirs…

Through the forest they traveled, guided by the stars and the sun. Before maps, before all other forms of guidance, they found their way.

Their destination was not clear. Only that they had to get there.

Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into years. Through streams, over rivers, they were not to be denied.

Out of the forest, and into the fields, then up against the mountains.

Undeterred, they reached the peaks. From the highest peak, the sky was now theirs.

The stars were within reach. And so onward they traveled. Years turned into millenniums.

The heavens were now theirs.

Note: Ending at 100 words, I’ll call this a drabble.
