What Is It That You See

The window looking in

“Inside The Shed” serves as a metaphor for looking inward.

What Is It That You See?

Looking through the window
Much to see if you just look
Open your eyes, open the blinds, pull back the curtains
Grass grows, flowers bloom, rain falls, snow flys
People walking, traffic flys

But wait, which side of the window are you looking through?
Are you looking out or looking in
Much to see if you just look
Dirty windows cloud the perspective
Need to clean your glasses once in a while

Looking out so much
Do you ever look in
May need to open the window
Could be dark inside if you’ve never been there before

Looking out all the time and never looking within
Much to see if you just look
Open the blinds, pull back the curtains
Close your eyes and look within

Like what you see, maybe not
Not sure what to make of it at first
Is this really you?

After looking out so much and never looking in
This is a sight unseen
So here we are
Let’s look in
What is it that you see?
